Art and play river built in a public plaza at Swan's Market in downtown Oakland. Created in partnership with the Museum of Children's Art (mocha), this very large river was notable for the variety of constituencies that interacted with it - market patrons, local residents, families from the nearby art center, school children, street people, security guards etc. - and for the integration of art making landscapes with an extensive water play space. An new sculptural form, the ziggeratt was also introduced to evoke the "Hanging Garden's of Babylon". The project culminated in outdoor evening party event enlivened by the convivial sounds of the ten piece band, Daniel Popsicle. Funding proveded by the National Endowment for the Arts, The Potrero Nuevo Fund and the City of Oakland's Public Art Program.
